Petar Drakić was born in Podgorica (then Titograd) on 5 June 1946. After finishing elementary school and the secondary school of economics in Podgorica, he graduated from the Faculty of Economics at the University of Montenegro in 1970. He passed the examinations required for a Master’s degree in Monetary Economics at the Economics Faculty of Belgrade University.
Mr Dakić, who speaks Russian, has completed a number of specializations and study tours at home and abroad, the most important being his visits to Poland and the United States of America. He has participated in international conferences on monetary issues, and is the author of several papers. He is married with three children.
Petar Drakić was appointed Member of the Council and Deputy Director General of the Central Bank for Payment System Operations by the Parliament of the Republic on 24 March 2004.
